To set up a proxy server on Windows, follow these steps:
Automatic Configurations
- Click the Start Menu then selectSettings (gear icon).
- Select Network & Internet.
- Click on the Proxy option in the left-hand menu.
- With Automatic Proxy Setup, flip on Automatically detect settings.
- If you have a script address (for example given to you by your network administrator), flipUse Setup ScripttoOnand enter the script address in theScript AddressArea.
- Click Save to apply the settings.
Manual Proxy Configuration
- Open the Start Menu and go to Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
- Scroll down to the Manual Proxy Setup section.
- Toggle Use a Proxy Server to On.
- In the Address box, type in the IP address of your proxy server; and in thePort box, the port number.
- Check the box if your proxy server requires a password, then your username, and password.
- Click Save to apply the settings.
Note:
- Have administrative (admin) access to the Windows device.
- In case of not being very clear on the proxy details (IP, port, or script address), consult IT on one or the other.
- For advanced users, Proxy Settings can be configured through Command Prompt or PowerShell with specified commands.
