What is SDLC In Software Testing

The Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a systematic process that helps the software industry develop, design, test, and ensure high-quality software maintenance. While not limited to the software testing community, it is one of the phases-Most importantly, the SDLC assures quality standards, coping with meeting customers' visual expectations within a precise timeline and budget. The stages of the SDLC include the following:

  • Planning: This stage discusses the scope of the project, requirement gathering, and resource allocation.
  • Design: In this section, the software architecture is created based on the requirements gathered and the specifics of the actual design.
  • Implementation or Coding: During this phase, the software developers write the code of the proposed software.
  • Testing: This phase will check whether the software is fulfilling the requirements and is free from defects in order to validate proper development. Typical types conducted include unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and acceptance testing.
  • Deployment: When all software has been converted and certified, it is released to the production environment.
  • Maintenance: The maintenance phase includes fixing bugs, updating software, and ensuring continued conformance with user requirements over time.

While broader than software testing, SDLC incorporates the key phase of testing to guarantee the software's quality and reliability. Conversely, the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) speaks directly to the testing efforts inside the SDLC, ensuring that the software undergoes thorough tests before being released.
